This addendum concerns the notification of adoption, publication, and entry into force of regulation:
Ministerial Decree No. 256/2016 that gives producers and importers a six-month transitional period to comply with Egyptian standard ES 1725/2016 "Salted fish" (11 pages, in Arabic).

Egyptian standard ES 1725/2016 supersedes ES No. 1725/2005 that has already been mandated since 2005 by the Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005.

Egyptian standard ES 1725/2016 "Salted fish" complies with Codex standard no. 244/2004 "Salted Atlantic herring and salted sprat".

Date of adoption: 26 March 2016 

Date of entry into force: The day following the date of publication in the official gazette (21 April 2016).

This addendum concerns the notification of adoption, publication, and entry into force of regulations:

Ministerial Decree No. 1001/2017 (2 pages, in Arabic) gives the producers and importers a transitional period of six months to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 336-1/2017 "Carbonated Beverages - part 1: General " (9 pages, in Arabic).

Egyptian standard ES 336-1/2017 supersedes Egyptian standard No. ES 336-1/2005, that has already been mandated among others by the Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 since 2005, which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005.

This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 403/2018 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian Standard ES 2063 "essential requirements and descriptive criteria of Fruit Flavored Meassel Tobacco" (1 page, in Arabic).

It should be noted that Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005, mandated among others the earlier version of this standard.

Worth mentioning is that This Egyptian standard has been partially modified in the following items:

1- Pure glycerin must be added without exceeding forty fractions per (100 fractions) of tobacco.

2- Addition of New item. In Packaging and labeling texts on "List of Ingredients (tobacco- glycerin- honey- flavor additives)"

This addendum concerns the notification of the Ministerial Decree No. 100/2019 (2 pages, in Arabic) that gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the following Egyptian Standards:

• ES 336-1 "Carbonated Beverages - part 1: General" (partial amendment in 1 page, in Arabic).


• ES 416-1 “Biscuits and Methods of Analysis and Testing Part 1: Biscuits” (11 pages, in Arabic).


• ES 1522 “Frozen meat” (11 pages, in Arabic).

It should be noted that Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 (11 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005 and the relevant Addenda mandated among others the earlier versions of these Egyptian Standards.

It is worth noting that:

• The Egyptian Standard ES 336-1 has been formulated according to National Studies and its updates. It has been partially modified in the following items:


• Delete the clause 3/4/3 Salmonella in 25 ml.


• Item 5/2/1 add the name of the product is a carbonated drink according to item (2/1), and if fruit juice is added less than 10%, it may be added to the data (natural fruit juice is added), If fruit juice is added more than 10% the product is called carbonated drink - carbonated water (soda water) according to item (2/2).


• The Egyptian Standard ES 416-1 is identical with GSO Standard No. 989/2016 for Biscuits.


• The Egyptian Standard ES 1522 is technically identical with Council Regulation (EEC) No 2377/90.

• Gives the producers and importers a six-month transitional period to abide by the Egyptian standard ES 8338 " mozzarella cheese " (10 pages, in Arabic)


• Cancels the Egyptian Standard ES 1008-14 "soft cheese - part: 14 mozzarella cheese " (11 Pages, In Arabic).

It should be noted that the Ministerial Decree No. 130/2005 (11 pages, in Arabic) which was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1 dated 14 December 2005 mandated among others the earlier version of the Standard ES 1008-14, and its draft was formerly notified in G/TBT/N/EGY/1/Add.11 dated 6 February 2020.

Worth mentioning is that this standard is technically identical with CXS 262-2006 adopted in 2006, amended in 2010, 2013, 2016, 2018, 2019 Codex stand for mozzarella.
