According to the Ministry of Public Health Notification No. 363 B.E. 2556 (2013) Re: Food Additives (No. 2) to prescribe labelling of food additives by declaring adequate details so that the processors can use correctly. Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) considered that it was appropriate to revise the detail of food additives labelling as follows:
Clause 1 Revised some existing provision of food additives labelling to comply with the Notification of the Ministry of Public Health, No. 367 B.E. 2557 (2014) Re: Labelling of Prepackaged Foods, dated 8 May B.E. 2557 (2014) such as:
- name and address of manufacturer or packers or importers or head office;
- month and year of manufacture and expiration;
- details of Food Additives manufactured for export
Clause 2 Amended the requirements by added specific condition for labelling of food additive derived from mixing together with two or more kinds of food additives which to be sold to food manufacturers or used as raw materials in food processing but not sold directly to consumer or sold to food additive packer. However, the following 2 cases may not required to declared percentage of food additive on the label or in manual or the documents relating to the sale.
(1) The manufactures or importers of food additives for applying in their own food product (or the same trademark of such manufactures or importers). or
(2) The manufactures or importers of food additives for sale to food manufacturers with agreement to provide information of percentage of food additives.
This MOPH Notification will be enforced on the date after being notified in the Official Gazette.
