Modification of final date for comments for the Draft Law notified under G/TBT/N/UKR/64 ;

Considering the requests of the trading partners as to extending the comment period for the Draft Law of Ukraine "On the State Biosafety System for creating, testing, transportation and use of genetically modified organisms" notified under G/TBT/N/UKR/64, the responsible agency in Ukraine has agreed to extend the comment period to February, 12, 2012. ;
So, the comment deadline date is extended to February, 12, 2012. ;

The primarily objectives of the Draft Law are: ;
1) introduction of the traceability system of circulation in an open system of products containing GMOs or produced from their use; ;
2) ensure operation of the Scientific and methodological center for GMOs testing. ;
The Draft Law provides the improvement of the current genetic engineering state regulation system and system of supervision and control of biological and genetic safety measures compliance. ;
Adaptation of Ukrainian legislation to the EU legislation regarding the traceability of genetically modified organisms and the traceability of food and feed products produced from genetically modified organisms. ;
